Rate of job cutting ‘is slowing’

The pace of deterioration in the UK labour market is starting to slow this summer, according to new research. Ten per cent more employers planned to cut staff in the three months from June than recruit, the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development found. But that was significantly better than the previous three months, when the balance was 19%. The report still concludes unemployment will hit 3.2 million in 2010.
